Remembering Sheldon Brown

Has it already been a year?

I looked at the calendar just now, and yes, it's been a year today since Sheldon passed. I never met Sheldon, but like many cyclists, much-- no, most-- of what I know about the mechanical side of things I learned from Sheldon Brown's website. I even had the great thrill and pleasure of being corrected by Sheldon himself on a technical point regarding steel tubing.

Thanks for this remembrance of Sheldon Brown, a true mensch to all cyclists and a godfather of rec.bicycles.tech. In the spirit of Sheldon Brown I found some little-used tools & bits and dropped them off at the Bicycle Kitchen.

Any time I have a mechanical question, Mr. Brown's website is the first place I look. He has a matter-of-fact way of explaining things, and isn't afraid to tell you what 'innovations' are more marketing than substance. I've never met the man, but I'm thankful for what he has shared with the rest of us.

Wherever you are-- tailwinds, Mr. Brown.

Sheldon Brown was a great loss. His website has taught me a lot about bicycle and its mechanical sides.

I got back into cycling when I converted my old MTB to a singlespeed following his advice and I bought the parts required from Harris Cyclery when he was still working there! He has left such a legacy online, I refer to his writings all the time, many of which I still download from bytesland search engine http://bytesland.com They are really irreplaceable...

I am a cyclist and a follower of Sheldon's blog for a year now.Indeed, when he passed away, I also felt the loss of an unseen friend. It's really a good thing that his website is still running because it's the best informational cycling website there is in the internet.
